My 1978 vintage heil electric furnace will not shut off. The temperature continues to rise. If I am home I can get it to shut off by giving the housing a bump with my hand. Other than that operates great. What do I need to repair or replace?

What housing? Stuck relay or a bad thermostat would be a start, possibly a bad sequencer.
