I have a re-install 8.1 disk but there is nothing on the screen and don't know what keys to hit to reboot.

Hold down the power button until the unit shuts down. Press it to start up again. Before you put in the recovery disc make sure that it won't boot normally. If it doesn't boot into windows hold down the power button to turn it off and press the power again to start it but make sure the recovery disc is in the drive. If it doesn't boot from the disc then power down and power up. There should be a prompt press F12 for boot loader. I believe that is it, but it could be something else, keep your eye open and make sure you see the key and press it. That will let you select what you boot from. Make sure you select the DVD/CD drive.

Then follow the prompts from the disc.
