View Full Version : Sewer gas?

I live in an older home and about once a year we have to call a plumber out to clean our drains as they back up. We always know when it's time because of the smell and water backs up in the garage. The last 2 days I've had the smell in the house itself not the basement or garage. I've tried running water in all the showers, sinks, utility tubs and flushing toilets but the smell persists and there is no backup anywhere.

Does anyone have any other ideas what I can do?
Thanks
Sindy

The last 2 days I've had the smell in the house itself not the basement or garage.Has it been hot the last few days? Sewer gas raises with heat, I would be more concerned about those backups and why they are recurring. You shouldn't have to have your drains snaked so much. Good luck, Tom
