Hi

I am curious to know how do you determine what your natural hair colour is apart from the obvious i.e look at it, is it through the hair roots? The reason I am asking is because I am baffled what my actual natural hair colour is because my hair grows out about 4 or 5 cms lightish black from the roots (lightish as my hair is naturally very dry) and then it tends to grow out brownish from there all the way down. Some of my hair roots grow out this same brownish colour too. The hair on my eyebrows is definitely a black colour. My hair seems to look browny black and sometimes more so brown than black but there is definitely black in it, so what is my natural hair colour and how is it determined? Mixed? Why doesn't it grow out predominantly one single hair colour? I hate this double colour in it and when anyone asks me what is my natural hair colour I never know what to say because becvause it not fully brown as such yet not fully balck either so I tend to say browny black but I hate this phrase.

Go to the hairdressers, they will be able to do a match and tell you the right colour, take care, love and peace anne x

If you are not sure what your natural hair color is, look at the new growth. The new growth will determine your natural color. You can also look at your hair in natural light. This will let you know the true color of your hair.

I have given you the best possible answer on how to determine what your natural hair is, but you've disagreed with my answer. If you're not happy with your hair color, I suggest that you go to the salon and get them to do a corrective color. The hairstylist will look at your new growth to determine your natural hair color and mix a formula to match the roots (new growth).

If your hair is dry, do a deep conditioning treatment once a week. You can also use a leave-in-conditioner.

I just don't like the mixture of both colours in the hair, because of the lack of natural oil in my hair and its extrenme dryness its very dull and colourless and I'm just after an answer as to why its like this.

You wanted to know how to determine your natural hair color and I have given you a precise answer, yet you've disagreed with me.

If you don't like the two-tone look, a trained hairstylist can dye your hair a particular shade you want. As for the dryness, try following my advice. I've provided some information above on how to combat dry hair.

Anyone else know what my hair colour would be and how to determine it and why it grows out in two different colours?
