So you might test negative but there wasn't enough of the HCG hormone to test positive. Use your first morning urine. During this waiting time you might want to thing about contraception if you're not ready nor trying for a pregnancy.

If it wasn't an actual period, you could be pregnant. It could also just be an off period.

Wait and see what happens when your next period would be due. If you feel that you are experiencing possible signs of pregnancy in the next few weeks, you could always test at that time.

As CravenMorhead said, it can take many months for many couples to become pregnant and that can be perfectly normal.
