We are trying to conceive, and I stopped taking my birth control about three weeks ago. Since then I have had a heavy period and continued spotting... If the spotting "stops" and we try to have sex, I get after a sudden flow and then spotting again for days. How possible is it to get pregnant like this?

You just got off birth control 3 weeks ago.. its not even out of your system yet. And you are going to need a lot more patience than you have now... some people might try for a few years before they succeed.

Did you have regular cycles before taking the pill? Birth control pills can throw your cycle off a bit at first when you first stop, or you may be regular right away.

The irregular bleeding can be related to stopping your pills especially if you were midway through a pack. It is possible that you won't get pregnant just yet if the lining of your uterus is not building up enough and the bleeding is likely due to your hormones still regulating.

Certainly pregnancy can be possible if you are ovulating. As smoothly said, give it time and try not to be discouraged if it takes a couple of cycles for your menstrual cycle to get back on track.

When my husband and I decided to try to conceive, and went off the pill, my doctor told me that it would take at least 3 months for my body to regulate itself after using the pill.

It's been 3 weeks for you! Give it time. Your body is adjusting to no longer being on birth control.

Also know that it takes the average couple 1 to 2 years to conceive once they actively start trying. At 3 weeks you're just beginning the journey.

Good luck, and baby dust your way! :)
