Knowing nothing about welding, and more on Firefox, your posting caught my eye.

Visit http://www.aws.org/education/plunge.html

According to that url,the salary can vary between $15,000 to $100,000 depending on experience.

Good luck racegirl,
Nez. :D

 thank you very much I appreciate it... I heard it was the highest paid profession in america, minus government and movie stars.

Underwater welders make so much because it is one of the most dangerous professions out there. In addition to the hazards of welding heavy pieces of metal in an unstable environment, the constant compression/ decompression takes years off your life. You don't really need college, but you need technical training in welding and SCUBA certs; and/or technical training in underwater welding.
