symmons temptrol s-96-2 does not allow water to go to shower. Why?

Most likely, either the diverter handle or the diverter spindle itself is defective. Here, remove the handle and the trim around the valve and then take the spindle handle and insert it into the diverter spindle... move left and right... see if the spindle moves or if the handle is stripped and needs to be replaced. Start there and let us know if you need help removing the spindle itself... requires a couple special "tools"!
