On Sunday I had sex with my boyfriend. I was not very naturally lubricated and we did it unprotected for around 2-4 minutes before we used a condom. It was quite rough. I didn't noticed any bleeding later that day but yesterday I woke up gassy and noticed some blood when I wiped (pinkish and a little brown.)

Today I had the same gassy issues and later in the day noted the bleeding had started again along a little red clot when I wiped. My period have always been some what irregular, but it is about a week or week and a half from when I should be started my period.

My concern is that if I get my period in a week or so, how will I know if it's a normal period and not implantation bleeding? Can the bleeding I am experiencing now be attributed to rough sex and not enough lubrication?

Thank you.

Sunday two days ago? If so, it's too early for any type of implantation bleeding. Implantation hasn't taken place yet, not even close.

In other words, this is either spotting because of rough sex, or you're having an off period. Or there's something physically wrong. It's way too early to consider pregnancy, or to experience any pregnancy symptoms.

If you were damaged a little from the rough sex, it would not be clots, it would fresh blood like from a wound, which is actually what it is.

Most likely it is due to irritation from the rough sex. Wait and see what happens when you expect your next period. If it is generally the same as what you normally would expect in terms of how many days it lasts and the amount of flow, it will probably be a period.

While it can vary sometimes, and not everyone experiences it, implantation is often noticeably lighter and shorter than a period.

It is important to note, that a common mistake when using condoms is to have a little penetration before putting the condom on. This is especially risky if there has already been a prior ejaculation. In order for condoms to offer a higher degree of effectiveness, there should be no penetration at all without a condom.
