I am a single father of three, I was let go of my job a few months back and my journey to find a job has not been a successful one so I filed for welfare assistance two weeks ago as temporary relief until I am employed... the case manager was judgemental from the beginning asking me where the mother of my children was, she left about a month ago and I didn't notify the landlord in hopes that she comes back, she was paying the rent and most of the bills, so the interview was over and she scheduled another appointment for lack of documents. I am not receiving any benefits. This morning an officer was at my door telling me that I am being investigated for welfare fraud... I am not receiving any benefits... he asked me same questions that the case manager asked and I told them the same thing that my girlfriend had left. Any suggestions on what to do?

Stick to your story and follow up on the case number the officer gave you.

Unemployment benifts last more than a few months... if you had that job for any time at all... there have been lots of people on it for almost 2 years. Something isn't adding up.

You, appeal their decision if they rule against you..

You just tell the truth,, if they wish to inspect home, and interview neighbors, let them... you may and should, file for custody of the children,, she could just as easy come back and take them. And be gone
