I have a new Kenmore gas cooktop converted to propane. Each burner has an electric igniter. On the largest burner, the igniter sparks but it does not light reliably. It always lights manually. When lit, the flame is noisy and flutters. Seems like the propane is coming out too fast or there is too much air or something like that.
The other three smaller burners work perfectly.
Is the lack of ignition and the seemingly abnormal flame connected ?
Will adjusting the little screw inside the knob stem help ?
The unit is recently installed but purchased a couple of years ago so it's not under warranty.
Thanks

You are on the right track! :)
The lack of ignition and abnormal flame are most likely connected. And, NO, adjusting the little screw is probably not going to solve the problem. It sounds like the GAS/AIR mixture is not adjusted properly. The thing I would do is close down the air adjustment at the tube where the orifice enters it.
The little screw inside the stem usually adjusts the lowest flame setting at the burner.
