Hi I am from Venezuela and I am studying rigth now in Waco-Texas. I have in this moment a visa F 1. But I had been here in Waco the last summer (April-June) with a different status: J1. My country has a treaty with United States that we are excempt to taxes until 5000 dollars per years. My question is, Is the Visa J1 from Venezuela free for the taxes? Or The two status counts like one?.

Thanks a lot...

The $5,000 exemption applies for the F-1 visa as well.
