Im 39 weeks pregnant. I went to the bathroom and wiped and there was a slimy clear discharge. I used the ph strips from walmart and it was in the 7.8-8.4 range. Could it be the mucous plug making my ph level go that high?

The mucus plug usually isn't clear, and not really a discharge. It's literally like a plug, and usually has some bloody show.

When in doubt it's never a bad idea to call your doctor and ask. :)

Yes, it could be the mucus plug. Do you notice any pinkish color to it... as some bleeding can show a higher ph. A "slimy discharge" when you wipe, sounds like the mucus plug. Just lets you know that your body is making preparation for labor. Could be soon, could be days away still.

Did you have a recent pelvic exam? Some women will notice some discharge after that. Amniotic fluid will be actual fluid. Some women will leak a bit, feeling it leak as they are walking or moving about for example. Others may have a very noticeable gush.

Obviously you are in the "anytime" stage of pregnancy, so just keep an eye on things. If you feel that you continue to leak fluid, go in and have it checked. It can also be just an increase in vaginal discharge which will sometimes increase at the end of pregnancy. When in doubt, go in and get checked. The worst that can happen is that you will be sent home to wait until things really get going.

It is constantly keeping your panties wet or was this a one time occurrence?

Not soaked just a little wet. I called the dr. They had me put a pad on to see if it gets wet within an hr
