Hello I have a six month old female boxer. We live in the ranch with 6 other dogs. My dog Hollie is one the most happiest hyper dogs I've ever seen.. and this morning we found her just lying there, no movement, she's throwing up this yellow substance, its not food but its gooey like mucus. She is very weak and limp does not want to walk eat or drink. Her stool in runny. No blood in her urine or stool. So we took her to the vet, and honestly they didn't do much , and they did was give her a shot for the nausea , and fill her stomach with the clay/dirty stuff, its gray. He also gave us a pill to feed her with ground beef and white rice, just as he suggested, although she did not want to eat we had to spoon feed her. She didn't eat much but 2 spoons fulls. So once we got home gave her the pill and everything else settled in she started gulping down water like crazy! But minutes later threw up some of the water. Its good that she is drinking because she hasn't all day, but she's throwing it up? I need help, do you have any idea what this is and if my baby is going to make it threw the night, we found her at 8 the morning, right now its 9:25pm and no improvement but drinking water. Please someone help my Hollie out, has anyone's dog ever experienced this?

First of all, never let a dog gulp down water if they are sick. She vomited from the water gulping.. vomiting leads to dehydration. Give her small amounts of water or let her lick ice cubes.

Sounds like the vet treated her for eating a toxic substance. If she doesn't improve by morning, you may need to go back for further treatments and/or hospitalization with IV fluids. The dirt-like substance he made your dog eat was probably activated charcoal. This will help collect toxins in the GI system and eliminate it through the stool.

Feed her small amounts of food. Do not let her eat large quantities. This will only make her feel ill again and possibly vomit. The hamburger and rice is easy to digest. And helps slow down the diarrhea.

I think your vet did everything right. Your dog is just really sick and may need more medicine. Its up to you to follow the directions and not cause your dog to become sick again.

But like I said.. if no improvement in 12-24 hours, go back to your vet for more treatment/help
