We had a new dishwasher installed 3 months ago and have a reoccurring problem with the "water tap". The installer states that food is getting in the line preventing the water to drain and leaving a foul smell. Both the garbage disposal and the dishwasher attach to the air gap which he states is normal. There is about 8" of excess drain line laying on the bottom on the cabinet before it attaches to the air gap. What can we do to prevent the clogging, excess water, and smell? Would attaching the hose to a side wall of the cabinet help?

have a reoccurring problem with the "water tap". I'm confused, your complaint is the drain and now you say that you have a recurring problem with the shut off valve on the supply. Please explain.

Both the garbage disposal and the dishwasher attach to the air gap which he states is normal. that sounds like a countertop air gap. We don't use them in the Tampa Bay area because they go bad so often. My advice, if you have one replace it with a soap dispenser and run by hired loop air gap. We have never, ever, had a complaint on a high loop air gap. Let me know what you decide. Good luck, Tom
