Maybe...maybe not. Depends on store policy...depends on cashier...depends on if you look shifty.

I didn't know CVS took JC Penny cards...

As far as I'm aware JC Penney cards are store cards usable only in JC Penney stores. What makes you think you can use it outside a store?

This is the link to JCPenney's Credit site: https://www.jcpcreditcard.com/JCPenney/occ-faqs.html#yourjcp

From their FAQ's:

Where can my JCPenney Credit Card be used?
Your JCPenney Credit Card can be used at all JCPenney Stores, jcp.com (http://www.jcpenney.com/), Sephora.com (http://www.sephora.com/), CVS/Pharmacy and Rite Aid Pharmacy.

I have not, yet, found any mention of showing id. However, this question probably needs to be directed to CVS and/or JCPenney. The link gives you the contact information for the Credit Center.

Well, requiring a valid form of ID is common when using ANY credit card... how else would they know if it's a recently stolen credit card that hasn't been reported yet. Or that its really YOUR credit card, (not your roomates or parents or any that you are not an authorised user of).
