Hi,

Barium chloride is usually used as the precipitating agent, but is it possible for strontium chloride to be used as a precipitating agent?

Thanks

Probably will work since the sulfate is very insoluble and they are the same group.

Thanks. I was actually wondering why barium is more commonly used than strontium. It just occurred to me today that barium has a higher molecular mass than strontium -- that's probably why it is usually used. :)

I think you will find it is cheaper too, more readily available.
