I have a yellow dot on the side of my tongue and it hurts. It was really big this morning, but now it is the same size but clear, but it is still yellow on the tip of it.

Give it a day or two and if it hasn't started healing than go to a doctor. There are many glands on your tongue as well as your taste buds. It isn't unusual for one of them, like an ingrown hair, to get infected or to burst. If you're really concerned than the prudent thing to do is book an appointment with your doctor.

Brush, floss, and rinse with warm salt water after each meal. It should go away.
Some people have put an aspirin between the tongue and the teeth... not sure if that works or if it's coincidence. Seemed to work for me, but pimples and cysts go away on their own too.
If it really hurts moving around in your mouth, wrap your tongue in gauze when you aren't eating or drinking. Just a little, and of course you won't be able to talk.
