Hi I'm hoping you can give me some advice, I'm 12 days late when I'm usually quite regular, only ever been 1 or 2 days out, I'm only getting a couple of mild symptoms like frequent trips to the loo, some days feeling unusually tired, mild headaches, extra discharge (milky and non odorous) slight pains in my lower back and also some slight cramp like pains in my stomach like period pains but no where as strong and also feeling a little different in myself but the test I took today was negative. I haven't been under any stress recently, me and my other half haven't been trying but haven't been preventing it either, I haven't even thought of the possibility of becoming pregnant until my period still hadn't arrived after the 4th day but now its all I can think about, I know I should see my doc but I'd rather do that once (if) I get a positive off a HPT, I've got a son from a previous relationship and it was awhile ago now (14 years) I can't remember what made me think I was pregnant to see the doc, I only remember I didn't do a test, I guess I just need some reassurance because I was heartbroken after seeing that negative result this morning, (also it wasn't my first pee of the day, wanted to be alone when I took the test but had to get my son to school) also my other half has a low sperm count so if I am I'm seeing it as a miracle

Edit: Also about a week ago (at 6 days late) I got some sharp stabbing pains in my lower left side that lasted about 6-8 hours, it was like a period pain but at one point it was a little hard to walk without wincing.

SO... you got a negative on a test you took later in the day. That would likely cause a negative result if you really are.

Take another test right after you wake up, the FIRST time you pee that day... and only read it within the time limits given on the instructions for the test.

Let us know what you got.

As far as going to the doctor... take another test but at the right time first. If its still negative, then consider getting a blood test done as some women test negative through their first trimester. If you are you will be making a LOT of trips to the doctor... you would need prenatal care during your pregnancy.
