What is the best way to grow Brussel sprouts?

You buy them as starter plants, plant in cultivated soil and watch them grow. Sprouts grow on on a stalk and are harvested when they mature to look like little cabbages. Pull the whole stalk and cut sprouts off into lightly salted water; the salt water releases any bugs or worms that may be hiding in the leaves.

There is no 'best' way, the just need good soil, sun and not too much water.

What is your general location? The season is different in the different climate zones.

We are in upper Northern Calif. Hot dry summers, regular seasons, very little snow if any. Zone 9
