I'm on the pill to regulate my periods because they have been irregular since me and my husband had our first baby in 2010. I just got my first period today since March. I've been on the pill for 2 weeks. Just wondering how long I should stay on the pill before I stop taking it to get pregnant with our 2nd child. And also how long will I have to take it before my periods come on a regular basis without having to take the pill? Thanks

These are questions that you should be asking your doctor. Since it appears the only reason to go on the pills, was to regulate periods. So that you could stop taking pills, was not all of this part of the discussion with doctor?

Unfortunately, there is no way to tell. Results are very individual. You might continue to have periods after stopping the pill after a month, it might take several months. It's possible additional testing may become necessary at some point.
Do speak with your doctor about your desire to become pregnant again. Knowing your history, your doctor should be able to guide you.

When you say irregular, how irregular do you mean? The definition varies on the person and situation, 30-40 days, 2-3 months, 1-2 years, or when the moon is in the seventh house. One of the paradoxes of birth control is that it can fail if you miss a couple pills, I have seen it with a friend and her beautiful daughter, but the hormones can stay in the system for a bit can cause temporary infertility for a month or two. Since you know that you've got irregular periods and might need help getting pregnant I would direct this at your OB or a fertility doctor right away so that you can start under supervision and ensure that you've got the best chances moving forward. Good luck!
