Why an amnio at 10 weeks and why cancel if my blood pressure was 'low'?

These are question to ask your doctor. The main cause for a amino is to get fetal cells to test. Is there any disorders that run in your family or your husband's family? An aminocentesis is a particularly invasive procedure and not one usually done this early.

Apparently it is easier to accomplish at 10 or 12 weeks, but I agree, these are questions you should ask your doctor.

Going by your name, are you over 40 by chance? Some doctors will test earlier than the norm on older mothers due to increased risks associated with age. However, early amniocentesis also carries a greater risk so you'll need to find out what the doctor wanted to check for. If just due to age, you may want to give some careful thought about having it done just for that reason. It would not be considered a medical reason on its own to risk an amnio that early, if at all.
