Yesterday evening I dyed my hair a dark blonde with a home kit in hope to match my roots so I could grow it out. But the dye turned out darker then my natural colour. The colour I used was a permanent also. So I am wondering if I will be able to try a lighter one over the top to get that right colour or if I will have to remove the colour 1st or go to the hairdressers?

U will, preferably need to go to a salon, your hair will have to be stripped back as such before further colouring. Using more at home kits (especially to lighten) can make hair brittle and dry. Try "selsun blue" shampoo (Im from oz, don't know where you are but it's a type of anti-dandruff shampoo) That will help wash the colour out, if its not terrible do this for about 1mnth & see how you go... otherwise... go to a salon:)

Even permanent colors fade over time, so if it isn't more than 2 shades darker than your natural color, it is likely it will fade to be close to the color. If not, you can highlight at home with foils and bleach, but color will not lift color.

The color will lighten considerably over the next week. I am always somewhat unsatisfied with my hair color the day or two after I color it.

Wash, wash, wash it, but avoid blow drying if possible. That will help it fade.

It will look better to you in a few days.

If you apply a blonde color over dark hair, it will result in a brassy color. I recommend that you go a salon and get them to do a corrective color. To go from dark to blonde again, you would need to lighten your hair with bleach and then apply the selected color, which is dark blonde.

There was an add for something called Color Oops in the cosmo for may.. it says that it will help take unwanted color out of your dyed hair. I would wait a about a week and use clarifying shampoo every day.. lather rinse repeat and if it doesn't fade to a color your happy with give that color oops stuff a try!

Hair color removers than make the hair orange or brassy. If peyton wants a decent blonde shade, minus the red/orange tones, he/she would have to lighten their hair and then apply the desired color.
