In a utility room about 4.5 feet wide I have my hot water heater. The electrical plug and dryer vent require the use of a stackable that would sit right next to the water heater by about 6 inches. The electrical outlet is right in the middle of the 2. Would it be safe to install an electric washer dryer stack next to the GAS water heater? My husband has been leery of it so up to this point I do not have one! Please help?

Hi Cnorris

Is this area next to the water heater already set up for the washer and dryer? In other words, is there a dryer vent, a dryer receptacle, a washer drain and vent, and hot and cold water piping for the washing machine all set up?

If everything is set up for an electric stackable washer and dryer and there is appropriate ventilation available to the room then there is no reason not to install a washer dryer. I would ask you why you would install an electric dryer when you have gas in the room and could have a stackable gas dryer installed, but since you have no dryer at all at this time I'm sure anything will do at this point, huh?!!?

Back to you...

I agree with Mark. If you have a water station already in place I see no reason not to use it. Good luck, Tom

Yes there are water hook ups and a dryer vent but the vent was sheet rocked over only on the inside so we will need to fix that first. Just need to be sure it is safe to have it all that close together before purchasing a stackable.

purchasing a stackable. is there a reason that you are not purchasing a gas dryer? Back to you, Tom
