A widow had to have her roof repaired. The contractor asked her for $600.00 for roofing supplies. The roofer then went bankrupt. The supplier put a $ 1,800 lien on the house. $1,200 for supplies and $600.000 for attorney fees. Luck has it there was a delay in notification of the homeowner, and also the supplier acceptance of a $600.00 check from the homeowner the lien was released.

The newscaster attorney, said if a contractor ask for money
Always get a “Partial Release of a Loan” I know what a Partial Release of a Mortgage is, but what is Partial Release of a Loan? How does that work?

"Loan", "lien", and "mortgage" would, in this context, mean just about the same thing. Sometimes newscasters don't get their stories straight.

If the widow paid the supplier, she should probably be filing a claim in bankruptcy. And if the roofer had a bond, she might be able to claim against the bond.
