I make it a point to pay my restitution every month. I know for a fact I paid in January, but now they're telling me 4 months later that I missed that payment. So basically they took my money, didn't put it in their records, and now I'm being forced to pay ANOTHER $100. What do I do?

SHow the proof it was paid... either the bank statement sowing the direct payment, or the canceled check proving they cashed it.

Oh my goodness, I was so wrapped up in all of this I must have not been thinking clearly. Thank you, I pay my restitution straight from my account so I have the proof. Thank you again.

You are welcome.
Keep the original... send them a photocopy... If they question its authenticity... have your bank send them verificiation... they will have paperwork beyond just the statement for the transaction.

Well, at least you didn't pay cash and then fail to get a receipt. :)

I agree, you have no idea how many people go in and pay cash for their fines or monthly probation. Mistakes happen, money gets credited to other accounts
