I'm not getting any water to my hot water tank to fill it up and my ball valve is broken . I have copper pipes should I remove the valve and use a shark bite valve cause I'm not a plumber the shark bite looks super easy

Make sure to turn off the house water and bleed off the pressure. If you are going to use a Shark or Gator bite fitting, suggest using a pipe cutter, not a hacksaw. Great invention that saves time.

After turning off the house water, open a first floor faucet until water does not run out any more. Otherwise, you will have a lot of water under pressure and make a mess when you cut the pipe.

If this is a GAS water heater you shouldn't install a sharkbite (or gatorbite) fitting any closer than 18" to the water heater...Orings inside the shut off valve could melt via excessive temperatures and/or the gas vent flu piping...;)

If this is an electric water heater you can probably install the shutoff as close as 12", but I wouldn't go closer to the tank, OK?
