Hi, I am 23 yrs old. I am pregnant right now. This is my first pregnancy. Right now I am 7 weeks pregnant(May 16-22). I took a trans vaginal sonogram test for the first time yesterday with my family doctor. Image shown only the gestational sac which is of 21.8mm in size. Doctor told me that there should be a yolk sac and a fetal pole seen at this point of time, but it is not seen. Is this a problem? Will this affect the baby's growth or will it lead to miscarriage?

Didn't you ask these questions to your doctor yesterday when you was there?

Those aren't questions we can answer easily, if at all. A child will develop at their own rate and it could be that you're embryo hasn't gotten to that milestone yet. It could also be a blighted embryo. It is impossible for us to say.
Likely your doctor has ordered another ultrasound. That will tell you for sure.

How was it determined that you are at 7 weeks? Was this going from your last period?
Usually there would be more seen at 7 weeks, and with a gestational sac measurement of 21.8, but it could be due to how the measurement was done. As CravenMorhead said, your doctor will be able to tell you more after the next ultrasound.
