Ive been working for Big Lots 12 years now. I know I can retire but my question is -What is Big Lots retirement package? I have read they have one but don't know what it is.

You would do best to ask someone in HR or some such department there.

Hi Wanda ,
You would need to ask your manager to give you the contact information to your human resources department and that department will have the information you need. Since each company's policy regarding retirement varies no one but hr can answer this for you. Typically though retirement usually consists of a 401k benefit that you would have elected to pay into (with a possible company match amount) overtime. Also, retirement benefits may consist of a pension benefit however most companies have done away with such programs.

With only 12 years... I seriously hope you have other money set aside than just this... you won't have much in that short of a time to draw off, but in any case you need to talk to Big Lots... and someone in HR there, most of the members on this site won't even know what a Big Lots store is being they aren't in the USA.

smoothy,
That would be true if you disregard the 1,495 Big Lots stores in 48 states.

OH.. I know who they are, I've been to one a few times.... I was referring to our members outside the USA. Not the Store... I guess I phrased that a little ambiguously after reading it again.

LOL...I got what smoothy was saying but reading it again, I can see how it could be taken the other way too. Good stuff.

Most retirement plans require that you pay into it. So have you been putting money into their retirement plan?
It appears not? Have you signed up to have funds withheld each week, when you started?
