I was in the ER Wed evening and was diagnosed with a UTI. After three and a half days of antibiotics(2,000 mg per day), I am still in a lot of pain, my eyes hurt, I have a headache & neck pain, low appetite and trouble sleeping. I am wondering if I should go back to the ER. My doctor said it should be getting better in 72 hrs. It is not getting better. Please advise.

Thank-you!!

The UTI must have gone on a long time to do that much damage to your system; a seven day regime of antibiotics is usually given, although the antibiotic given to you may not have been strong enough to counteract the infection. For instance, ciprofloxacin 500mg is the only antibiotic that is tolerated by my system when I have a UTI.

Yes, definitely go back to the ER if you are that ill!

I just want to add that we do not know your medical history. For instance, if you were to be a diabetic, diabetics are really hit hard with UTIs because their immune system is compromised. Are you a diabetic, or do you have any similar medical issues?
