Spring has arrived and the interior detailing of the Family Car has begun... We have the standard rubber mats to try and control the slush and grim , no matter how well you knock your boots on the running boards.. Snow, Slush and Road Salt still leave their mark on the edges of the carpeting...

Looking for a DIY remedy or an Inexpensive product off the shelf guaranteed to do the job to scrub away the Road Salt that has caked itself into the edges of the carpeting... Without using say the Steel Brush approach, don't want to create Bald Spots... lol...

I'm determined to find Rubber Floor Mats with the Deep Dish Design for next Season.. I've checked a few big name manufacturers but our car is not listed...

A good scrubbing with an ordinary scrub brush with hot water and dish soap always works for me ! And yes, I know what you mean, I live in eastern Ontario, the roads were bad this winter.

@ tickle... Unfortunately with the Heaters playing down on your feet the Road Salt gets caked in pretty good to the carpeting... I'm hoping to find a solution to cut through the dirt & grim without too much scrubbing for fear of leaving bald spots is my concern... Cheers Thanks for your Comeback anyway..

Yes, of course, I did mine this weekend, the way I explained. No more salt ! The water dissolves the salt!

I have never had a bald spot using a fairly stiff carpet brush, but carpet stain remover before the soap and scrub got me some good results. Also some oversized rubber mats or carpet remnants will help protect the original carpeting through the winter months. Even with kids.

The pad in my Nissan is protected from slipping up under the gas pedal by special eyes and hooks. I hestitate to put anything down that will interfere with my gas pedal by slipping under it and "bunching".
