I have a pit viper pump that I have to spin the propeller to get it to run. So opened it up and it was filled with liquid. I thought it was filled with water so I dumped it out saw it was oil. It looks like there is a starter connected to it that also was in the liquid. Oh l meant to tell you that it is a submersible pump. Is it suppose to be full with oil or did it fill up with water and mixed with a little bit of oil that suppose to be in it? What kind of oil should be in it? Where can I get a new starter & oil for it? I can probably can get the starter at a electrical supply store, but I would have to know what kind to purchase. Where can I find out the information that I need?

I can't speak to these as I have never tried to disassemble one (or even install one), but I seem to think that liberty pumps may have manufactured the PIT VIPER PUMP(s) at one time...may be worth a call:
