My dishwasher wasn't working well, so I bought a brand new one about 4 months ago. The new dishwasher is not working either. So I figured it had to be the water pressure. I called a local plumber and he stated that our hot water heater was old and had a lot of sediment in it and that was the cause of low water pressure making our dishwashers not work. I was quoted 1650.00 to replace the hot water heater. Is this price too high?

Hi Rob

You gave us almost ZERO information here...

We don't know where you live. We don't know what size the water heater is, and we don't know if this is an electric or gas water heater. You also do not mention how the water heater is vented (if gas or propane)...would be natural draft, power vented or on occasion, a direct vented water heater.

Finally, I am GLAD that you didn't provide all that information to us as I would have felt horrible telling you that we can't help you with questions on pricing...just not helpful to you in any way as we are not there to see the job and all that is involved.

Call another plumber or two and get estimates from them. This is the only real way to know if the $1650.00 price is reasonable or not!!

Good luck!

Mark

Just a minute here! Didn't the plumber flush the heater to remove the sediment> Do you have good hot water pressure at the faucets? I think your plumber's packing you with a expense you don't need. If you would like to flush the heater yourself and then check the line and input screen to the dishwasher click on back and we'll get started. Back to you, Tom
