Hi, I am 35 weeks pregnant the baby's head is engaged and I keep getting a burning sensation in my hips? Could this be baby's shoulders? Also getting a feeling like a misplaced tampon and a lot of pressure. This feeling isn't all the time it comes and goes. This is my second baby.

This would be a question to ask your OB. If you can't get an appointment I would head down to your hospital to the Maternity Triage and get checked over. This falls under something new and weird and should be checked out.

I am going to see my midwife tomorrow will ask her there. Went into hospital a couple of weeks ago and asked about the burning on my hips and they didn't know what it was. Was checked for infection and nothing was found.

Did you midwife check for engagement or are you suspecting it because of the pressure that you are feeling? She will double check and let you know. Some babies will engage around this time, some not until labour is under way. On occasion, they will float in and out for a time. Ask your midwife about the possibility of the hip discomfort being due to SPD. If so, it is more of an annoyance than a health concern. Although it can be wise to be aware of avoiding certain position while in labour and for pushing.

Not too much longer... fingers crossed it all goes smoothly for you!
