Can I add a recoil starter to briggs 8.75 pro engine w/elec start only and what all would I need to do it?

I'll bite, why would you go through those expensive changes when you can buy a model that already has both?

Hi,
Generally yes. It could vary as to the parts needed; starter cup needed(?), blower housing neede(?) and recoil starter required positively. The cup may not be present and the blower may not have the required fastening points. The starter is obviously needed since it is the point of your query.
If you provide the engine numbers, I can give a link to the parts breakdown. Numbers are in the form of MMMMMM (for model), TTTT-TC (for type and trim code respectively and DDDDDDAC (for date of manufacture and assembly code respectively.) The first two are required to get it from Briggs (which you could probably do yourself with those numbers) and possibly only the first for a couple of other sites. All part numbers are included in the breakdown. Inspection is probably required to ascertain the need for the housing by removing the decorative trim.
Incidentally the 8.75 refers to the effective torque of the engine for the last several years, not the HP.
Peace,
Clarke
