Hi,

I live in NJ and my employer is also located in NJ. Employer w-2 shows that he withheld taxes for NJ state. My employer has put me to work at a end client location. Client office is in NY. (Note: end client is not my employer)

Do I need to file taxes for NY state as well ? Please advise.

Yes, if you work there long enough. Typically, the state starts taxing you once you hit a month working in the state.

However, you WILL get a credit on your NJ return for the NY state taxes you pay.
