I have recently been tracking my bbt and I saw the spike for ovulation we did have sex after seeing the spike, there after it started to decrease tp 97.1.. a few days later it rose again to the same degree as my ovulation which was 97.9 for 3 days now.. I'm not to sure if this is an early sign of pregnancy but I hope it is.. can someone help :)?

Hi Marie85... welcome to AMHD,

When using your BBT to determine ovulation, you want to watch for a few things. In the first half of your cycle (your period to ovulation) you may see your temp go up and down a bit. Once ovulation occurs, your temp usually will show a fairly noticeable spike. The key thing to watch after this is that your temp stays up. After ovulation, your temp usually remains elevated until either you have your next period, where it will decline again, or it continues to be elevated due to a pregnancy.

It often takes at least a few months of charting to get a good idea of what your cycles are like. When you notice a spike, you want to plan for frequent sex in the days prior to it as the spike occurs after ovulation and pregnancy is best achieved if the sperm are already present and waiting in the few days prior to ovulation.

Some women find temping and charting works well for them while others find it frustrating and confusing. Give it several months and see if you notice a pattern. As you chart, also look for other likely signs of approaching ovulation, such as a change in cervical mucus in the days leading up to the spike in temp. You may notice this becomes clearer and more fluid... just the sort of environment that will allow sperm to survive for a few days.

Good luck!
