I had a house inspection done on my house and the inspector says that the main drain which is Cast Iron is leaking. There are signs of water anywhere on the pipe or the ground around it. What should I do?

Apparently he ran soap over the Pipe and it bubbled. I'm trying to sell my house and I'd like to fix it so it doesn't come up in anymore inspections.

Trying to get a few ideas and or cost of replacing the pipe

Thanks in advance

Replace it with PVC piping.

There are signs of water anywhere on the pipe or the ground around it. Did you mean that there are NOT signs anywhere on the pipe or the ground around it? If you do not know exactly what the inspector is talking about call him and have him explain the info...it is why you paid him! You also don't want to go doing any work you don't have to do, right?

I don't know anything about soap bubbles on a cast iron drain pipe either? I mean, if the pipe is cracked or corroded/compromised in some way it should be pretty obvious by looking at the pipe or in most cases, following the LEAK back to the cast iron, right?

You could always contact a couple local plumbers and see what they think here...estimates are usually free.

Did the inspector send a sewer-cam through the cast iron to determine you had a break in the line? Do you want to repair or replace with PVC? Back to you. GTom
