Hi... my 10 yr old hot water heater (Bradford White) works great for about 12 hours, then the pilot light goes out. I am able to easily relight it every day but it goes out every day. I had a guy come out and said there is nothing more I can do than to replace the entire unit. Any other thoughts? Thanks! Mark

Hi Mehleck

It sounds like you have a MAKE-UP air issue here! Check out this Bradford white manual...scroll down to page 36 for "screen-lok flame arrestor cleaning":

Here, it sounds like the filter is clogged...may only need to be brushed and cleaned to resolve the issue.

Please post back with results and if this saved you some big money I do accept tips...:)

Mark

I should mention that I have a Bradford White gas water heater. It has the sealed pilot light with the electric push button type igniter. I do not see any filters to clean or clear... am I missing something?

Thank so much for the reply. I plan to try this but step 4 makes me nervous so I am going to find a more handy buddy to help out. I certainly will post results and tip if it works. I just am not ready to take the plunge on a new heater when I think it is fixable still! Thanks again Mark! Mark
