I have an apt on the side of a private house.

My landlord said an inspector is coming to check and see if we have old lead paint. My landlord made his daughter
Trusee of the house (he's over 80 years old but very active) I'm afraid he's having this tested to sell the house.. or am I wrong. Do inspectors go house to house checking on lead? Is it a law? I live in NY

Lead is an outlawed substance. No lead paint, no lead bottom coatings for boats, etc. But I have never heard of inspections for it, but would stand to reason this question would be asked of an older house by realestate.

Do you have a lease?

If the trustee wants to sell the house, she can do so, whether it has lead paint. She doesn't need an excuse.

But it would e sold subject to your lease rights, if any.

That is a question on a standard real estate disclosure form. Might be considering selling the house and want to know for sure. If built before 1970 or so, it probably has lead paint.
