For about 2 weeks now I have had pain and swelling on the outer edge of my left foot.. by my pinkie toe. It seems to be worse in the morning and when I am on my feet. Which is well, pretty much all day. Morning is definitely worse though. It is also slightly red. I scared it could possibly be gout but with the research I have done, the placement doesn't add up and it usually happens more so in men... well, from what I've read. Can anyone help?

This is the sort of thing that needs your whole history (and age, weight, gender, etc).

Best case scenario is temporary inflammation from an injury, excess weight, favoring your right side with carrying something on the left - child, big purse, how you sit at a computer. Or bad shoes, even if it seems worse in the morning.

Worst is vascular problems related to HBP and clogged arteries, clots, etc. With your heart on the left, and your feet being the farthest from the heart, symptoms of heart disease often show up in the left leg and foot first. What is your BP? If it's high, or you don't know, tell your doctor.

You can't diagnose on line. Gout can happen anywhere there is a joint. Gout is too much uric acid in blood, and water flushes the uric Acid out of the system. Used to be called the rich mans disease because of eating too much red meat, which is partially true. That being said, it is not a disease, just a condition that comes and goes and one learns how to deal with it. Anti Inflammatories help, and lately I have found thst A535 rub works too!

So... not a diagnosis per se, we can't diagnose here. Don't be upset about it, visit your doctor, uric acid in unusual quantities can be detected with a simple blood test.

Try some A5353 rub!
