I am on H1B visa since Jan 1, 2006. Before that I was in F1-OPT status. I am a resident of India originally. Should I file 1040NREZ, 8843 or 1040EZ?

I was in india for a short trip of 18-20 days during summer 2006. My marital status is single.

Also, My employer did not deduct my SS and Medicare taxes until late April. I informed them and then they deducted that amt from my following paycheck.

Thanks

You are a resident for tax purposes. 1040EZ... just my opinion though. I am no tax expert.

I'm sorry but this is my weak point. I will have the answer for you tomorrow evening though. Let me research this a little bit.

You are a resident and you should file a 1040 or 1040EZ. You don't need the 8843.
