My dad who was visiting me from India got sick and we took him to ER. There they diagnosed him with a heart attack and I signed Consent to Treatment and Admission Agreement form for my dad. I signed in a Kiosk which had the release of information, advance directives, health information exchange and stuff. I read that and signed. But when I get a copy of the signed thing, I saw the form contains the Financial Responsibility part in it. The hospital never told me nor explained me about that part. What should I do now. (Please note) I'm from India on a dependent Visa and this is my first experience with ER and the signing consent form . I Never knew that this form would have a Financial Responsibility part in it. Since I'm in a dependent visa will this bill affect my husbands' visa status?

The burden is on each person to read what he is signing, not on anyone to explain it to you verbally. Someone needs to pay the bill. Eventually it will have an effect on your status. Talk to the financial office about monthly payments.
