I am instaling a central heat and air unit in my home. It is a 2200 sf ranch style home and I have been told I need a five ton unit. What size ductwork will I need to install to heat and cool my home.
If I just had ONE MORE power tool...

5 tons? You must live in Arizona! That is a pretty large unit for 2200 sq ft. Are you doing all of the work yourself? A contractor would give you sizes in his estimate. I'd get two estimates and then decide to do it myself or have one of them do it. Either way I'll know the duct sizes as well as the plunum size.

At .10 static pressure 20 inch round pipe, Square duct: 17 X 18, 20 X 14, 30 X 10, 40 X 8, so on and so on. That's if you insulate the outside of the duct pipe. If your not sure and do not know the CFM chart. Its best to hire a expert to do the job it will only come back to bite you in the long run. (use a air duct calculator)
