I have IBM R32 laptop that doesn't recognize CD Rom drive in My computer or Device manager. If I swap CD drive with Floppy drive computer recognize Floppy drive. If I put that CD Rom drive in another IBM laptop that laptop recognize him and it works OK. When I put CD Rom drive in IBM R32 laptop it spins and open/close with no problem.
Any help?

Is the CD-ROM recognized in the BIOS?

If the drive gets power and is detected by the BIOS, it seems likely it might be a Windows issue on the one laptop.

I suspect the connection between the laptop's main board and the drive bay has been damaged.

It's still possible the CD drive itself is flakey, but given that you can set it up and get it working in the other laptop, that seems unlikely.
