My sewer is under my driveway and is pitched toward the house not away from the house, does anyone know of a less expensive way to fix, rather than tearing up all that concrete? Is there a pump or something that I could add to my sewer line to get the crap to the city's main? Please advise! Thank you!

You have a major problem. Both solutions to it will run you into money. Of course the best one would be to redo the sewer and give it pitch. I guess you could cobble up a plan where you could use a grinder pump to push the crap up and out of the backfall but that would mean digging up the sewer line, building a man hole for the unit and installing it underground. If it were me I'd bite the bullet and fix it right. Good luck, Tom

A better way is to find a company that will bore it. In atlanta we have companies that can bore huge tunnels for close fit for pipes. No broken concrete.

If its not too bad of a pitch you can simply maintain your sewer pipe by calling your local sewer and drain company. If you live in the NYC area you can call us at (SPAM deleted). We deal with back pitch sewers all the time, keep in mind that you DO NOT have to change your sewer line just because it has a back pitch. Think about it, if you do decide to change your sewer line it will cost you a few thousand dollars at the minimum, but if you keep your sewer line maintained regularly (like 2 or 3 times a year) you will not feel the financial crunch.

This post is so wrong on so many levels that I cannot decide which claim to debunk first.

I would try maintenance, but A. I would like to someday sell the house w/o a problem, B. within 14 days of doing maintenance by a professional (he worked 2 hours on clearing my line) I had crap in the basement again. I am looking into the directional boring option, hope it will work, otherwise got to do what speedball said. Also, we're new in this home and we ARE suing the previous owners for not disclosing the problem, apparently it's happened many time before and they and the city new about it. Wish me luck.

Thanks! I am looking into it and have emailed 6 companies for opinions etc. Never heard of directional boring before, well, never had this problem before. Thanks a ton!

I think Doug's suggestion is well worth looking into.
