Ok this may sound stupid but I am really confused on what is going on with my body. I am 17 and have been on birth control pills for about four months now. I have missed a pill now and then. My body has been going through strange symptoms of pregnancy for the past 4 or less months now, and each time I take a pregnancy test it comes out negative. I even went to a doctor and they said I am not pregnant. Now I have had cravings, my periods are spotty (witch can be due to the birth control), I have gained weight, my boobs are bigger, but my nipples are turning brown and my breasts are starting to get sore. I am constantly nauseous and still the pregnancy test says I am not pregnant. Now about three weeks ago my period came 4 days early then stopped four days later. Spotty as usual but slightly heavy. Then a week later I started bleeding really heavy and had bad cramps for a few days. Again it has stopped. Now it is a week later and I am due for my next period any day now. Could you please explain to me what is going on with my body because I do not understand and I cannot afford to go to the doctors. And Planned Pregnancy (where I go for my birth control pills) doesn't tell me anything other than I am crazy and stupid and that it can't be happening. But it is and I really want some answers because I am getting scared.

There's a really important piece of information missing here, have you actually had a sexual encounter ??

Missing pills make the birth control pills, less effective. So it is really possible, but "signs" are signs of dozens of things, the first and only real sign is a missed period, not a light period, not one 3 days late, but a missed period.

Then 2 weeks after a missed period, you test for pregnancy. Using first urine of the morning.

Most hormonal birth control pills work by releasing a hormone that fools the body into thinking that it's pregnant already and as such doesn't need to release an egg. This has secondary symptoms, if you read your pack, that include weight gain, sore boobs, and the like.

Missing pills can cause accidents. By accidents I say pregnancies. The pill, when used correctly, is effective. When not used correctly is less effective. I would use a secondary form of birth control as well, a barrier like a condom. Just in case.
