I have a Samsung flat screen basic I can't get a DVD connection my cords on both sides are yellow white an red

If you have "video" terminals on your set they would plug into those and they too should be color coded.

Red, white and yellow should be able to hook up between the 2 and select the correct source/input.
Red, blue and green(component) is better video, then you will also need a red and white for audio. Don't mix up the 2 reds, audio and video both use a red.
