So, I've never had a normal period; at times I would go 6 months, even a year, without getting a period at all. I've never had access to insurance in order to get it checked out.

That being said, my periods have lately became much more regular in this last year. Still not perfect, but more following along a pattern. In the same time frame, I've also been having unprotected sex with my boyfriend. During this past year, my periods have been a month an a half to 2 months apart, lasting about 5 and always very heavy bleeding in the first 3.

I haven't gotten my period in about 2-3 months, and in the course of the last 3 days I've had really light brown discharge, a darker brown discharge, then all of a sudden a much brighter, redder, discharge. It then went back to a medium brown and last just about 2 days; as of today (day 3) it seems to be gone.

My question is the age old "could I be pregnant?"

How old are you? More so for the irregular periods then anything.

Any time you have unprotected sex there is a chance you could become pregnant. Since you're not doing anything to stop it, it might be though it sounds like you've just had a period so I would venture no. I would wait until you fully miss a period. Then two weeks after that take a home pregnancy test.

Are you wanting to become pregnant?

We're not actively trying, but wouldn't be opposed. I am 23.

I haven't had a period in approx 2-3 months, and what I've been experiencing is nothing like my period (a liner was barely needed, whereas with my period a super+ tampon barely gets me through an hour on the heaviest days.

I've also been experiencing some minor cramping in my lower abdominal region, not nearly as bad as normal, just enough to know it's there.

Might want to consider a test then. Have you had a complete check up? I am concerned about the sparsity of your periods?

I haven't had it checked out.

It's been this way nearly since I started getting my period, and I've never had access to consistent medical care to get it checked out. It's not that I don't want to, but it's not considered a "medical emergency" so no ER will look, and without insurance I can't even afford to talk to a doctor.

I am assuming you're in the states? If you go to the medical conditions/diseases board, they have information on how to visit a doctor without insurance.
