I went to the doctor on Friday and my dr told me I was 2cm dilated, the baby weigh 5 pounds 15 ounces. I then had to go back to the hospital yesterday (Wednesday) for pains and little contractions, they checked me and I'm dilated to 3cm 70% effaced. I stayed over night to be monitored and was sent home today. Does this mean the baby is coming soon or not? Is there anything I can do to push things along?

You can be 3 cm dilated for the last month at least. Baby will come when it is time.

This is not something that I will advise you on, as a labor and delivery nurse. At 35 weeks baby's lungs, heart, brain, and other organs are not adequately developed enough to be healthy at birth. AT 35 weeks, your nurses and doctors will do everything in their power to stop labor.

I know you are tired of being pregnant, but you have to think of the health of your baby.

Late preterm means that a baby is born after 34 weeks but before 37 weeks of pregnancy. It's important to try to have your baby as close to 39 weeks of pregnancy as possible. In the last few weeks of pregnancy, your baby's organs, like his brains, lungs and liver, are still growing. Waiting until you're at least 39 weeks also gives your baby time to gain more weight and makes him less likely to have vision and hearing problems after birth. Your baby will also be better able to suck and swallow and stay awake long enough to eat after he's born. Babies born early sometimes can't do these things.
